I just read a passage of scripture I have read a million times but it spoke to me in a completely new and fresh way.
Genesis 41:14(NLT) Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison. After he shaved and changed his clothes he went in and stood before Pharaoh.
How many of you all know that when the king calls for you, he wants you now. It even says, “he was quickly brought,” but yet he still took the time to “shave and change his clothes.”
This jumped out me, he shaved and changed his clothes first. What? WHY?
The KING just sent for him.
He wanted to be his best before the king.
I know this goes against typical theology, “Come to Me you who are broken…” but then again, it doesn’t.
This man, Joseph was already under the Grace of God for he had Favor with God. So when he came in front of the king he didn’t want to come dirty and smelly and bearded. He wanted to come prepared and at his best.
You see as Christians under the Grace of Christ, we are no longer broken, bruised, battered or dirty, we are made whole in Jesus and we are purified by His blood.
When the King calls for us and Jesus presents us to Him we want to be at our best, we want to be clean and smell good. We want to be prepared to meet our King. Because of Jesus all God sees in us is the same He sees in His Son.
Are you prepared to meet your King?
